Biography and Career of Pablo Fernández Junior
Origin and Education
• Born in Pinar del Río (Cuba), the son of an accomplished painter and a self-taught mother in the visual arts. He grew up surrounded by the creative process and showed interest in painting from a very young age, thanks to the example of his parents.
• At the age of five, he began painting seriously, participating in school competitions and developing an early technique. At 14, he attempted to enter the San Alejandro Academy in Havana but was not accepted; a year later, he succeeded and finally graduated with honors in 2019, with a thesis ranked among the best.
Artistic Career
• He became a professor at the same San Alejandro Academy before turning 21, being the youngest teacher at this prestigious Cuban institution.
• He practices a style that fuses photorealism and hyperrealism with influences from pop art and surrealism, creating works with an almost photographic appearance that challenge the viewer’s perception.
Main Series and Themes
• He creates thematic pictorial series such as “Human Conduction,” based on family portraits, and a continuous exploration of gender themes, with protagonists and faces that represent the diversity of orientations and the freedom to love, emphasizing the human condition and its challenges.
Exhibitions and International Exposure
• He has participated in group exhibitions and international fairs such as Art Paris (Grand Palais, France). He also prepares solo exhibitions in various countries, in addition to exhibitions in Cuba and Mexico.
Style and Recognition
• He is admired for his impeccable technique and his ability to create photographic-like works, which require multiple views to discern that they are handmade paintings.
• Although young, he has achieved recognition as a prominent photorealist, and his work has been valued both inside and outside of Cuba. However, his main aspiration is not prestige, but rather the achievement of a fulfilling career and happiness through his art and his family.
Pablo Fernández junior arrives in the United States to the city of Miami in 2022 and since then he has actively continued his career in the art world, being present in different art fairs such as Art Basel in Miami 2023, 2024, 2025, Context in Miami, Art Wynwood 2023, 2024, Art Palm Beach 2023, 2024, 2025, Art Santa Fe in Texas 2023, Intersectartanddesing Aspen Colorado 2025, collective exhibition at the Arte San Ramón gallery 2022 Santo Domingo Dominican Republic among other international collective exhibitions in which the artist has been able to participate at only 26 years of age.
